Now if the cross was just a piece of wood, I imagine that would have been that.  We discovered the cross-like Isaac Newton discovered gravity or Columbus discovered America-great job-done! But if the cross is not just a piece of wood we discover, but through it we constantly discover and rediscover our deepest self, well that’s not once and done. Each and every generation, and each and every believer must discover and rediscover it, lest we forfeit its great power.
