Meaning of the Feast & Application for Today
Today on the exaltation of the Cross-through mid November-we remember the cross of Christ. Human beings are forgetful creatures. If we don’t regularly remind ourselves of who we are and where we came from, we tend to forget. That's what keepsakes are for, old books, furnishings and photos we keep to remember who we are and where we came from. I am sure your families all have your own. We also have keepsakes in church given by God to remind us who we are and where we came from. We have old books, photos and furnishings, but the greatest keepsake God gave us is the Cross, a reminder to our ancestors and to us, that the love of God is more powerful than any evil, even death. In today's worship we exalt the cross (raise it up) over all things, praying that the love of God will be our guide and strength, just as we make loving God and others our highest priority.
