One cold January afternoon in 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 out of LaGuardia Airport in New York heading to Charlotte landed instead in the waters of the Hudson River after losing power from a bird strike. Most of you remember that event. If you don’t, there is a movie ‘Sully’ starring Tom Hanks who plays Chesley Sullenberger ‘Sully’, the heroic pilot who saved all on board by landing the plane safely in the Hudson River.  You likely don’t remember Ric Elias from that day. I didn’t either until I listened to a podcast where he described what happened to him that day sitting in seat 1-D. I found his story of finding life anew very relevant on New Sunday/Nor Kiraki, what our church calls the eighth day of Easter.
