The difference between good and bad pride is in its object, what it points to. Pride is so dangerous and so often bad because-irresistibly the object of pride is ourselves, our ego. It’s like the story of the young school boy who was so meek and modest, that he was awarded the ‘most humble badge.’ The next day, it was taken away. Why? Because he wore it! That’s just a humorous one-liner version of Adam and Eve, the story of men and women from the beginning, forever and always. God put a badge on Adam and Eve, you are king and queen of everything. And what happened? Instantly the evil one gives them a badge, they wear it, and fall in their pride.
