As Chesterton famously said, Christianity has not been tried and found lacking, but it’s never been seriously tried. The Bible, from cover to cover, agrees, demonstrating that the root of our problem is that we are born forgetful. We are children of God, but we forget who we are.  We are born with a great birthright and destiny but we settle for less. It’s in our very nature to forget-things big and small.  Even science backs this up. Have you heard of the Ebbinghaus forgetting curve? It says that we forget 50%-hour/70%-day/90%-week.  The Gospels say our forgetfulness is in the biggest things as well as the small. The world is broken and we along with it because we can’t for the life of us remember who we are and to whom we belong.
